Main Results of Demo Flights They • PROVED efficiency of long-haul non-stop flights via the Arctic by 4-engine aircraft • DEMONSTRATED possibility of flights by 2-engine aircraft • SAVED flying time by 1.5 – 2 hours as compared to traditional routes • PROVIDED for air traffic safety in existing ATC environment • DETERMINED capacity of the existing ATS system – 8 hours a day, not more than 2 aircraft per hour • HIGHLIGHTED necessity to modernize communication/surveillance means, and ATCO's working positions • PROVED that after ATC system modernization capacity may be increased to 30-40 aircraft per hour, 24 hours a day ALLPIRG/4 WP/33 Appendix 7
