  2. What types of Aid? Many countries supported Haiti through ODA Over a quarter from United States ($259 Million)

  3. What types of Aid? Much of that 259 Million was through NGO’s and other un official agencies. The US Government specifically gave 165 Million in the form of Development Aid. The Aid was mainly Financial Assets.

  4. What’s the Motive Haiti was ruled by a Dictator named by 1957-1971. The US government then directly intervened but only made the situation worse. Politicians agree that the wellbeing of Haiti should be a priority for the US government as they are responsible. Over 2 Million people from Haiti live in US.

  5. What’s the contribution to development? • Financial Assets to develop • Health • Infrastructure • Education • International aid was met with obstacles which highlighted the areas – provide the basis for future development programs

  6. What’s the effectiveness? Pro • A number of issues can be solved at once • Politically the Haitian Government wont feel pressured from the US government and so relations can still be healthy Cons • Corruption in the government reduces the chance that the money will be used for the wellbeing of the public and be used to develop Haiti once more.
