  2. What to do after MYP5? - Many different options - 27 unique students in MYP5

  3. National Swedish programme - Application online, deadline 1st of March - www.skanegy.se - 3 years, 18 different programmes - Specific username and password for application online – I will hand it out to the students if needed.

  4. IMPORTANT DATES – Online application - January 24 – Online application starts - March 1 - Last day to apply - April 14 – Preliminary results are shown online - April 21 –> May 15 – possibility to change - In the beginning of July - Final admissions decision will be shown online

  5. Important dates - Gymnasie fair, Swedbank Arena, Lund - 28/1 • (08.30-16.00) & 29/1 (11.00-15.00) - Open House at Spyken - 1/2(17.15 - 20.30) - Open House at Polhem - 4/2 (17.00-19.00) & 5/2 (11.00-14.30) - Open House at Katedralskolan - 5/2 (9.30-14.00) - Open House at Vipan - 5/2 (10.00-13.00)

  6. Bladins international schoolMalmö - Social sciences programme in English. - Application online - www.skanegy.se - Deadline 1st of March - For more information – www.bladins.se - Open House at Bladins - 29/1 (10.00-14.00)

  7. Språkintroduktion (IVIK) - Introduction programme in Swedish (to be prepared and able to apply for a Swedish national programme). - Normally one year, depends on the previous knowledge of the student. - Application online - www.skanegy.se, deadline 1st of March. - Katedralskolan or Polhem, admissions office decide.

  8. IBDP1 - DP1 at Katedralskolan – subject choices, deadline 17th of February! - No online application! - DP1 at Malmö Borgarskola – Contact Principal Martin Roth as soon as possible 040- 30 66 56 or martin.roth@pub.malmo.se

  9. Advancement to DP from MYP5 - In order to advance to the Diploma Programme, MYP5 students needs to: - Have gained a grade total of at least 36 points from the eight subject groups and the personal project combined, out of possible maximum of 63. - Have gained at least a grade 3 in the different subjects. - Have met the expectations of community and service to the satisfactory of the school. - In the subjects chosen for Higher Level at the Diploma, a minimum of grade 5 is recommended.

  11. Group 2 – Language b • Swedish B SL/HL • English B SL/HL • French B SL/HL • Spanish B SL/HL • German B SL/HL • Spanish ab initio SL (online course)

  12. Group 3 – humanities • Economics SL/HL • History SL/HL • Psychology SL/HL • Business and Management SL/HL • Environmental Systems and Societies SL

  13. Group 4 – Science • Biology SL/HL • Chemistry SL/HL • Physics SL/HL • Environmental Systems and Societies SL

  14. Group 5 – Mathematics • Mathematical Studies SL • Mathematics SL • Mathematics HL

  15. Group 6 – (Arts) • Choose your sixth subject from any of the groups 1-4 except group 5 - Mathematics.

  16. Can I change my choices? - Yes, through May in MYP5 & PDP if there are places in the group/s. The student has to fill in a form and hand it in to Birgitta Roupé. Changes in IBDP1? – Change of subject/s –> only if special circumstances - Change of levels –> through December

  17. Which subject to choose? – This is only recommendations, please look online at the universities websites. University entrance Engineering: Physics and Chemistry, both on HL recommended, Math SL or HL Medicine: Chemistry and Biology, both on HL recommended, Math SL or HL Medicine in Sweden: Physics, Chemistry and Biology, all on SL is enough, Math SL or HL (If new entry requirements from VHS will be published, we will inform you asp) Economics: Economics HL recommended, Math SL or HL Psychology: Psychology HL recommended History: History HL recommended

  18. Which subject to choose? – This is only recommendations, please look online at the universities websites. University entrance Law: All combinations are accepted. High grades in general. (In Sweden, Historia A and Samhällskunskap A, all students in PDP will receive this from PDP) Architecture: Env. Systems & Societies SLor two science subjects are recommended. Bachelor in Biology: Biology and Chemistry recommended. (In Sweden, at some universities physics is a requirement, please look closely online at the different homepages.)

  19. Application to Universities in Sweden • Due to “Gymnasieskolan 2011” we are waiting for the final entry requirements from VHS (Verket för Högskoleservice) • It will be published this spring 2011. • As far as we now, no big changes of the entry requirements.

  20. Application to Universities in Sweden • Entry requirements for all courses: - Swedish A Lang & Lit SL/HL or - Swedish A Lit. SL/HL or - “Svenska som andraspråk A+B” or - TISUS-test • Swedish B SL/HL is not enough. • Their might be changes!! Decision from VHS spring 2011

  21. Application to Universities in Sweden • IBDP students in Group 1 + 2 (together with all students from national Swedish programs) • Group 1 = Final grades from Exam • Group 2 = Retake or grades from Komvux • Group 2  Much greater competition for places than in Group 1.

  22. Meritpoäng = Credit incrementsonly in Sweden There might be changes!! Decision from VHS spring 2011 • IBDP students can get up to 2,5 credit increments that will be added to their final IBDP grades. How to get credit increments? For which subjects? • Mathematics– maximum 1,0p • English – maximum 1,0p • Language (Spanish, German, French) – maximum 1,5p • “Supplement point” = 0,5p For all IBDP students, to all university courses

Math B = 0,5p Math C = 0,5p  Math Studies SL Math D = 0,5p Math E = 0,5p  Math SL & Math HL If a university course has a specific entry requirement for Math D, the students will receive 0,5p for Math SL & HL.

Decision from VHS spring 2011 • Language (French, German, Spanish) = Maximum 1.5p • Language ab initio or Language step 3 from PDP = 0,5p • Language B Standard Level (not Swedish and English) = 1,0p • Language B Higher Level (not Swedish and English) = 1,5p • If a university course have specific entry requirements for Language step 3, a student with Language B Higher Level will receive 1,0p.
