  5. Preserving the Standard of Turbid Water Quality the Intake of El Seiouf WTP • Water resources of Rond Point,El Seiouf , El Mamoura( El Montaza Canal) and ( Forn El Geraia ) WTP (s) are located on the Mahmoudia Canal. • Manshia WTP is located on the canal emanated from the Mahmoudia Canal in Khourshid area, before being polluted by industrial wastes. • While the permanent analysis of the daily intakes is done according to the standard specifications and the general standards. some specifications of water banks are not complied with the standard specifications. Accordingly, the following corrective actions have been taken:- -In 1988, the intake of Rond Point WTP changed from Mahmoudia canal to a drinking water canal. • In 1990, El Mamoura WTP was supplied with new pipes instead of El Montaza canal which was supplying the raw water from Mahmoudia Canal. • In 1996, new pipes were connected to Forn El Geraia WTP to supply the raw water from the drinking canal.

  6. Preserving the Standard of Turbid Water Quality the Intake of El SeioufWTP • It was necessary to expand the drinking canal to provide raw water to the intake to be :1.200000 m3 / day. • In 2002, all WTP(s) intakes were changed to comply with the international standard specifications and the intakes are automatically purified. • The intake is purified regularly from the accumulative weeds and silt deposits. - A continuous cooperation between AWCO and the Ministry of Irrigation and water Resources to purify the canal annually or when required.

  7. AWCO Laboratories • The mission of Alexandria Water Company is to produce a cup of water complies with the international standards . In each WTP, there is a highly scientifically and technically equipped lab responsible for following up the purification process starting from the intakes till the customer networks .In addition, AWCO’s Central Lab has the start of art equipments to carry out all the chemical, organic, • (Inorganic), bacteriological and biological analysis. Indicated in the international and Egyptian standards .

  8. AWCO Laboratories - A joint sanitary committee is formed between the Administration of Health Affairs and AWCO’s Central Laboratory for withdrawing samples from the networks to determine the validity of the bacteriological analysis. In addition to the weekly random sampling of all the distribution system to assure that water comply with standars . - Since July 2010 till June 2011,58.29 samples have been withdrawn . 925 samples only have proved to be incompatible with a percentage of 1.6 %

A survey has been made to many tanks in Alexandria , and the following problems have been found out : • Tanks without covers . • Tanks made by breaks , concrete and painted by biotammen which is an unhealthy dangerous isolative material . • Corroded metal tanks . • Fiberglass tanks polluted by weeds .
