  5. 2014 Season Highlights • $10K in Scholarships and Grants • New trainings for: • Game Scheduling Support • Training for Commissioners • 1203 NCJLA Certified Coaches • Roster Lock April 1 • End of Season Events • Summer Workshop • We listen

Summer Workshop Outcomes • U15 age eligible 9th graders no longer petition to play U15 • Boys U13 division re-worked • Girls U15A full checking • Girls 3-pass rule eliminated at U11 • Improved communications • Every club should send a representative to this workshop • Great opportunity to weigh in on league planning and policy

  7. NCJLA Certified Coaches • Recommended by 2011 summer workshop group • Coach certification data due by Feb. 8, 2015 • Coaches must wear lanyards with NCJLA Certified Coach card visible at every game, officials will verify

  8. NCJLA Certified Coach Requirements • Annually: • Background check • Annually or every other year, depending on contract with your NCSI or other clearance org • US Lacrosse membership • One and done: • PCA (online or in-person) • US Lacrosse Level 1 Online • Coaches Code of Conduct Signed

Background Checks • NCJLA prefers NCSI (National Center for Safety Initiatives) • www.ncsisafe.com • NCSI required for US Lacrosse Certification • Up to club to determine one year or two year NCSI contract • Link club’s NCSI account with US Lacrosse • Report EXPIRATION date with NCJLA Certified Coach submissions • Other services accepted such as LiveScan, etc… • Get started early on this and all coaches requirements

Team Scholarship Program • Scholarship funds for 2015 season provide: • 90% waiver on team reg fees • 50% off officials fees per game • Priority to teams: • Drawing players from underserved/low-income communities • From a new NCJLA club • Timing: • Application posted early October • Due early November • Notifications Mid November

  11. Team Registration • Opens October 7 • Include all U9 teams • Include coaches contact info, if available • Closes December 8 • For both boys and girls teams • Withdraw a team after game scheduling ends: • Club put on probation • Second year in a row: • Club suspended from league

  12. Player Eligibility Petitions • Accepted from club president via online form • November, December and January • By the 10th of the month • Board will review at monthly meeting • You’ll get a response the following day

Rosters • 80% of NCJLA clubs use League Athletics • Easily upload rosters to NCJLA site • Rosters due February 8, 2015 • Second submission OK for late jersey numbers, and additional players trickling in • No Roster = No Game • U9 Divisions • Max on roster is 18 players • Register each true team (in December) • All U9 games entered on NCJLA website

  14. Why Rosters? • Oakland Tech JV NCJLA Champions 2011 • Great coaches, great sportsmanship

  15. Why Rosters? • Second game in 2012, season ending injury from an illegal hit • Broken collar bone, ER visit… • Used Bollinger as secondary insurance

  16. Why Rosters? • Need 100% of coaches and players to have current USL membership for Bollinger Insurance to be valid • NCJLA verifies every roster

  17. Game Changes/Cancelations • Game Cancelations • Must be reported to the NCJLA within 72 hours for boys teams and 120 hours (5 days) for girls teams • Forfeits • Too few players? Communicate & show up and play the game. Enter 0-1 as score, loss to team short players • No shows & unilateral changes • 0-1 score entered, offending team banned from end of season play • Second offence: rest of team’s season is canceled and club put on probation
