  3. Introduction

  4. Why do we need Network Applications and Services? • Local View:Upgrading Taiwan’s industry from manufacturing to XX≡ software? content? service? design?………. • Global View: Utilizing advanced telecommunication technologiesThe one and only one factor to decide the future of 3G/4G/nG:Network Applications and Services (NAS)→ • No NAS no 3G/4G/nG • No NAS, 3G/4G/nG are still R&D topics for our grandn-graduate students!

  5. Where are we now? • Network infrastructures:broadband Internet, 2G/2.5G/3G, WLAN, PAN,……. • Computer and communication applications: I-phone, MOD/VOD, Video Conferencing • Computer and communication services:e-learning, e-government, e-campus, e-life→Network Applications and Services

  6. Goal • Produce a large number of high quality students who can be engineers having better adaptability with state of the art technologies in the network applications and services area to promote Taiwan’s international competition in the industry. • Evolution of the human resource from OEM/ODM manufacturing industry to highly value-added design, service, software, content, …….. • Taiwan earns America: count by penny per unit • America earns Taiwan: count by dollar per unit
