  2. Finding Encyclopedias Book – find in Reference Section Online Encyclopedias Type in your URL: www.library.dallasisd.org Click on blue links or use Web Mix icons

  3. Finding Books Type in your URL: www.library.dallasisd.org (OPAC) Short phrases or single words Filter to find what you really need Request books through ILL from Molina, Carter, Adamson, AEP, or other nearby schools * Suggestion - Save titles in “My Account” for easy access

  4. Finding eBooks Here are three places to look: Online catalog (OPAC) Follett eBooks Gale Virtual Reference Library *Suggestion - Use the Bookbag or Notebook to save titles or notes

Finding Periodicals Use the OPAC - www.library.dallasisd.org Click on Web Mix Click on EBSCO Research Databases Short phrases or single words Filter to reduce the number of hits *Suggestion - Create an EBSCO “My Folder” account to save your articles and be able to use their features. Gale also lets you create an account.

  6. Other Helpful Sites www.easybib.com or www.bibme.org - Your teacher may want you to use one of these to create citations. www.edmodo.com – Your teacher may want you to use this to track assignments. Use your existing account or create one. Get your Group Code from your teacher. www.evernote.com – Create an account and have an online source to hold your notes. Use the Big6 is a model to help you construct your paper. Some colleges use the Big6, so it would help you to know it.

  7. Need Help? • Please ask Ms. Anderson any time. Even if I’m doing something. • Search in the Reference and Nonfiction sections, or Fiction for some of the titles (A Time to Kill, Secret Life of Bees) • There may be Reference books that don’t come up when searching but could be useful for your paper – ask. • Return any books used to Research cart(s) at the end of class. • Please don’t check out books; other classes also need to use them. • Please don’t permanently borrow or take books out of the library without permission. Other students need to use them. • Please keep your conversation volume low so others can find and read information more easily. • Please, no food or drink. That’s for your home study.
