FPMs - History • Founded in 1837, as a Mining school, by the Conseil Provincial du Hainaut (oldest school of engineers in Belgium). • Official universitary institute from 1920. • Definitely called Faculté Polytechnique de Mons in 1935. • From 2004, member of the Académie Universitaire Wallonie-Bruxelles,consisting of ULB, UMH and FPMs • Hopefully fused with UMH in 2009 to form the new University of Mons

  3. FPMs – Some figures • One of the 4 faculties of engineering in the French speaking community (with ULB, UCL and ULg) • About 1100 students (Sciences de l’Ingénieur) • 65 members in the academic staff • 150 members in the scientific staff • 80 members in the technical and administrative staff
