  4. Hong Kong Consumer Council (HKCC) • established in 1974 • 22 members appointed by Government • Full Council meets every two months • 124 staff • 16% in Consumer Advice Centres & Consumer Council Resource Centre in Tsimshatsui

  14. Hong Kong Consumer Council (HKCC) • Monitors trade practices & competition-related issues • Issued Good Corporate Citizen’s Guide in 2005 & Guide II in 2006

  15. Hong Kong Consumer Council (HKCC) • Consumer Education programmes • 4 major target groups: • young people • teachers • senior citizens • new immigrants

  16. Hong Kong Consumer Council (HKCC) • Consumer Culture Study Award • annual event for 8th consecutive year • largest project-based learning programme for local secondary schools • 700 teams from 106 schools take part this year

  17. Hong Kong Consumer Council (HKCC) • Consumer Legal Action Fund (CLAF) • HKCC is trustee • Established in 1994 • Government grant of HK$ 10 million • Provide financial support & legal assistance for consumers
