  6. Borden Grammar • Open Evening : Tuesday 7th October 6.00 p.m. • Open Morning: Friday 10thOctober 10am - 11.30am

  7. Westlands • Wednesday 1stOctober 6.00 p.m. – 8.30 p.m. • Head teacher address 6.15 pm, 7.30 pm • Open Mornings: • 6th – 17thOctober, 9am – 10am and 11am – 12 noon please phone to book 01795 477475 – limited to 50 people per tour.

  9. Top Tips • Visit as many of the schools as possible • Have questions ready to ask at the visit • Gauge your child’s reaction to each of the schools • There is no first preference any more. • There is not a tactical game to be played.

  10. Kent Test assessment decisions posted to parents: Results will arrive to parents on Wednesday 15thOctober by email and by post on 16th October.

  11. SCAFFORMS • SCAF Forms to be completed and handed in byThursday 31st October • PLEASE HAND IN BY Friday 31st OCTOBER • NB: Kent have a ‘reasonable allowance’ up to the 5th Nov

On-line applications • Parents can now make their applications on-line. www.kent.gov.uk/ola • The advantage is that you edit your form until the 31stOctober (5th November KCC), when the form is submitted. • You can’t submit your forms both electronically and in paper form. • Last years On-Line applications went extremely well.

  13. Headteacher’s Appeals • Appeals will only be made where the children have missed out narrowly by one or two marks.

  14. Key Dates: • Offers Sent to parents on: 2ndMarch 2014(via e-mail) 3rdMarch 2014 (Via letter) • On the 5th March Secondary schools will send out welcome letters to parents • 18th March Waiting list requests to schools • Places to be accepted or refused by the 20th March • Appeals up until 31st March

  15. WAITING LISTS • Waiting lists have now replaced re-allocation. • Schools will hold waiting lists prioritised in accordance with their subscription criteria. • Grammar schools can only put pupils on the waiting list who have passed the Kent test.
