  3. Problem • Detroit’s visual appeal is low , and its bringing down the city. • Lack of volunteers in Detroit, to help counter all the blight • Lack of awareness of community service events.

  4. Why is this a Problem? • More volunteers will help clean up Detroit’s look. • A cleaner look could increase Detroit’s population. • It will make the community come together.

Summary from 1st survey • Main Reason they don’t volunteer was because of safety concerns and time issues. • Group activities, Incentives, and being better informed were ranked high on was to increase volunteerism. • Summer and Weekends are the best times to have an community service event. • People would rather volunteer with an organization.

Summary from 2nd survey • Main benefits of community service are; it cleans the city up, and brings community together. • About 43% felt unsafe while volunteering. • Most people volunteer because its fun, and or to hang out with friends. • To make volunteering better by volunteering in groups, and to make the organization of the events better.
