  3. Together WE Can! Students: • Respectful attitude towards everyone • Willingness to learn and be taught • Good Behavior • Preparedness/Good Attendance Parents • Support child’s education. • Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom & on field trips.

Rewards & Consequences • Rewards • Individual Raffle Tickets • Whaley Way to Go • Group Points • Class Points • Consequences • Warning • Loss of Recess • Meet with Teacher - Discussion • Communication to Parents: Schedule Parent/Student/Teacher Conference – phone call or note • Meet with Principal or Vice Principal

  5. Class Schedule • 8 – 8:30am Pre-Reading • 8:30am School Starts • 8:30 – 9am Journals • 9am – 9:20 P.E. • 9:20 – 10:40 Math • 10:40 – 11am Recess • 11:00 – 12:40pm Reading/Language Arts • 12:40 – 1:20pm Lunch • 1:20 – 2:25 pm Social Studies/Science • 2:25 – 2:32pm Daily Closure/Dismissal

  6. Text Books • Each student has been issued a Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies text books – they also have all the workbooks needed. • Damaged Books $5.00 – Replacement Cost • Textbook Replacement Cost • Language Arts $68.00 • Math $76.00 • Social Studies $73.00 • Science $57.00

  7. Homework • Approx. 90 min. of homework Mon. – Thurs. • 20 minutes of reading and Reading Log DAILY! • Language Arts & Math Review • Intermittent Long term Projects Completion and Accuracy of all homework & class work is expected from all students. Homework counts as a grade. If you do not complete your work or receive an F, you are to make up the work during your recess or afterschool. Chronic Homework Issues – Intervention and/or Conference with Principal/VP and parents.

  8. Report Cards & Testing • Progress Reports – Every 2 weeks • Report Cards – November, March, and June • Parent Conferences: November 17th • CST in May • Language Arts/Math • 4th and 5th Grade Science • P.E. Test at the end of May • Flexibility, Strength, and Endurance

  9. Computers • Laptop Cart for the Class • Each student uses their own Laptop • Student Use Policy • Projects include: • Creating Brochures • MS Power Point Presentation • Digital Stories • Evergreen School District Film Festival

  10. Science School • Science School – April 12th - 15th • Cost – Approx. $200/student • Fundraiser Opportunities: Chocolate Sales, Event Concessions, and more • Expected that ALL students attend! • Benefits of Science School • Next THURSDAY 9/23/10 : Chuck E. Cheese Family Night (15% of sales made between 3-9pm go to Whaley!)
