  3. Evolution and Trends • 2003, 2million people affected by natural disasters and 45million by complex emergency. • Today, armed conflict consist are characterized by widespread human rights abuses and the use of crimes of violence as weapons of war.

  4. Humanitarian Sector • Humanitarian workers are increasingly becoming the target.

  5. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement • The largest humanitarian network in the world. It represents Over 180 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
