  5. Graduation Requirements • 4 credits of Language Arts • 4 credits of Mathematics (including Algebra 1 and Geometry) • 3 credits of Science (including biology) • 3 credits of Social Studies (World Hist., US Hist., American Govt. & Economics)

Continued • 1 credit of HOPE (Health Opportunities through Physical Education) • 1 credit of Practical Arts/Performing Arts • 0.5 online class • 2.0 unweighted gpa • Algebra 1 EOC (PERT concordant score: 97+) • Grade 10 FSA/ELA (ACT/SAT concordant score) • EOC’s also in biology, geometry, algebra 2 and US history

  7. What if I’m getting off track? APEX: To recover “D” or “F” credits earned from previous courses. Class assignments are done online and may be completed at home, all unit tests must be done at TSHS from 1:45-4:30 Monday-Thursday in the media center. Tutoring: Free tutoring is available for all TSHS students. Tutoring is available Mondays and Wednesdays for English and Science until 3:30. Math tutoring is on Wednesdays until 3:30. Virtual School: • If you need to make up a course that is not a core subject you may make it up through FLVS/PVS @ www.flvs.net Information regarding credit recovery can be obtained from your school counselor.

  8. scheduling appropriate Rigor • AP, AICE, Dual Enrollment, Pre-AICE or Honors –These types of courses give quality points. AP, AICE, and most Dual Enrollment give 1.0 QP while honors and pre-AICE give 0.5 QP. • Courses taken during high school for college credit must be sent directly from the awarding institution (not high school) to Universities. This includes Cambridge, SPC, ACT and SAT scores. • .

  9. scheduling appropriate Rigor • Dual Enrollment • Juniors and Seniors qualify based on PERT scores and GPA • Student attends classes at TSHS and at SPC. Counts toward college credit. Starts your college gpa as well! • Early College &Early Admission • Had to attend info session for Early College • Early admissions applications are due Feb. 12 • Early college – apply at end of 10th grade for 11th and 12th grade. Student takes all classes on SPC campus. Possible for student to earn diploma and associates degree at same time. • Early admission – apply at end of 11th grade for 12th grade. .

Dual Enrollment Admission directions • Go to www.spcollege.edu • Click on the “Admissions” tab • Click on “Apply Now” • Click on the green box “Apply to SPC” • Click on “High School Programs Student” • Click on “Next Step” then complete the application • They will need their Social Security number • Fill out an application with TSHS counselor • This process must be completed every semester • March for summer session • April for fall 2018

PSAT, ACT and SAT • PSAT – 9th and 10th Grade • SAT – www.collegeboard.org • ACT – www.act.org • Recommend taking SAT or ACT after Algebra 2 • TSHS testing center for both SAT and ACT see handout • Students with IEP or 504 accommodations apply through Collegeboard.org for the SAT, PSAT, AP and through ACT.org for the ACT.

Students on Free or Reduced Lunch • Any student on the CONFIDENTIAL Free or Reduced Lunch list may receive 2 fee waivers for the SAT and 2 fee waivers for the ACT. • If the test fee waivers are used, the student will be eligible for 4 college application fee waivers. • SEE YOUR COUNSELOR for waivers.

University (SEE SUS MATRIX) • Submit applications by Dec 15th • Test scores ACT/SAT completed • Resume and Essays • Letters of recommendations- “brag sheet” • Counselor needs 5 days for College Apps. • Common Application – over 700 colleges through 1 application (see handout) • IMPORTANT to go on University websites to see individual preferences.
