  1. WELCOME TO PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT!

  2. Parent Access & Student Handbook All parents must access and sign the Student Handbook, which is now done electronically through Parent Access. It is important for this to be done during the first 2 weeks of school. In order for your child to have their picture taken for the yearbook on September 17th, we must have this acknowledgment signed electronically. Please see the handout provided.

  5. Attendance Policy Students may start entering the room at 7:50. This is when they complete their morning procedures and warm up. At 8:05 the tardy bell rings and morning procedures should be complete. Instruction and checking of warm ups begins promptly after announcements.

  6. Please check UFO's daily and sign. This is where homework and important notes and information are found. Green Cards go home each Wednesday. Please sign and return the next day. REMEMBER no checks are a good thing, which is the equivalent to Satisfactory on their report card! UFO's/Green Cards

  7. * You are always welcome to each lunch with your child. Our lunch time is 12:05 to 12:35. * Please eat with them at his/her table and do not bring students from other tables over. * When the teacher on duty gets on the microphone to get ready for dismissal, PLEASE say goodbye to your child at that time. WELCOME to Lunch Time

  8. Birthday Treats Special treats can be brought and shared with the class for your child’s birthday. They need to be brought in by the student or dropped off at the front office. NO cake, cupcakes, or cookie cakes are allowed. Alternatives would be glazed donuts, individual cookies (no icing), muffins, or things like pencils or erasers. Please send in napkins with any edible treats as we do not have them in our rooms to provide. The treats will be shared during snack time in the class and students need to be able to eat them while still working. Thank you for following these guidelines!!!!!!!!

  9. Birthday Parties Please only allow your child to pass out party invitations at school if they are inviting all the girls, or all the boys, or the entire class. This helps to alleviate any hurt feelings. Students also are not allowed to pass out invitations to students in other classes either. Thank you!

  10. Students may bring a water bottle to class to keep at his/her desk. It needs to have a lid and can only be water. Water Bottles

  11. Tickle Me “Pink”! This is our positive reinforcement system in the class. Each student has a pink sheet in his/her UFO in which they collect marks. When they earn marks in multiples of 10 they can then turn them in for rewards. Students earn marks for good behavior, helping others, kindness, getting UFO and papers signed, etc. Marks are given at random to help enforce desired actions all the time, not just for rewards.

  12. Discipline Policy Rules may vary from class to class, but these are the basic expectations for classroom behavior: • Enter the room quietly • Bring all materials to class • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself • Respect the rights of others • Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak • Obey all school rules

  13. Discipline Policy Consequences: 1st warning- reminder to student 2nd warning- sit out at recess. The time out will be determined by action. 3rd warning- miss all of recess and parent note or call. Severe disruption: Fighting, destroying property, or defying a teacher requires that a student be sent immediately to the principal.

  14. TRANSPORTATION If there is a change in transportation, please send in a signed written note with your child. Please include your name and your child’s full name. If we have not received a phone call or note, your child will have to go by the daily transportation we have on file. Please make sure phone calls are made before 2 pm as well, to ensure they are delivered in time to make the necessary changes.

  15. TRANSPORTATION • If your child is a walker, parents should establish a meeting place and wait there until the student arrives. • Parents of walkers should not be under the awning waiting. This will free up the front area so that the car rider line can move as quickly as possible.

  16. Rainy Day Dismissal On Rainy Day Dismissal ALL Biker/Walkers are released as Car Riders unless other arrangements have been made. We encourage you to stay in your car instead of parking and getting out. This is for the safety of the children. If you walk from home on those days, please do not wait on the porch. There is no place for the children to sit and this slows down dismissal.

  17. STUDY HALL Study hall is a great place to finish your work! Study hall is used for: • Incomplete work • Missed work due to absence • Extra time needed for assignments • Injury/illness notes (no recess due to a note requesting no recess)‏ • AR Testing

  18. Grading Policy Homework • 10 points are deducted everyday a paper is late. • Students may go to Study Hall to complete assignments not turned in. • Mondays and Wednesdays are generally reserved for Language Arts, while Tuesday and Thursdays are reserved for Math. • For an assignment to be considered “On Time” the student must have it with them when they arrived first thing. Dropped off assignments are considered late. Tests • Tests are typically announced 3 days in advance. PLEASE check UFO's every night, as well as the teacher websites for these dates. • Missed tests will be made up during Study Hall. • Failed tests (below 70) are not retested, although the material is retaught.

  19. Grading Policy No Names on Paper • A reminder will be given the first 9 weeks. • Starting the second nine weeks, students will have 10 minutes off of recess to reflect and remember the importance of putting their name on their paper.
