  4. and this …

  5. And …

  6. Even this is General Aviation

  7. 15% of fatal GA accidents caused by weather Single Engine Fixed Gear 13.6% fatal due to weather 75% VFR in IMC 19% Icing 6% Lost control in IMC Single Engine Retract. 11.9% fatal do to weather 71% VFR in IMC 29% Thunderstorms Multi Engine 23% fatal accidents caused by weather 11% Lost control 33% Icing 44% Thunderstorms 11% VFR in IMC

  8. PRIMARY WEATHER KILLERS • VFR in IMC • Thunderstorms • Icing

  9. Survey Results • Need better information and forecasts of icing and thunderstorms. (short term convective forecasts) • More information on cloud tops • More detail about visibility beyond “better then 6” • Dislike current FSS setup which may connect to briefers who are hundreds or thousands of miles away with little or no local knowledge. • Too much information makes it difficult to find the really important information.

  10. Extended outlook beyond 24 hours with more detail then just VFR/IFR • 36 – 48 surface prog similar to 12-24 low level sig weather prog • More PIREPS more often and more current • 3D presentation using Google Earth or similar to show simulated weather conditions including clouds, precipitation and visibility at a chosen altitude • Do away with most codes. Why is 3,000 broken displayed as bkn 030? Why not 3,000 bkn?
