  1. Understanding the Concept of Homeschooling Amidst huge debates going on regarding homeschooling and the better option between it and formal education; many seemingly fail to understand the concept behind homeschooling. Homeschooling, or home education, as it’s called in the UK, refers to a child being imparted education by their parents or a private tutor as against as the staff of a formal educational institution such as local schools. History Homeschooling has actually been around from quite a few centuries now, although it didn’t managed to get mainstream as it used to be very, very long ago. In fact, it was usually considered to be an option for people who didn’t had any access to the right to education, and were forced to look for other ways of educating their children. However, nowadays, many parents throughout the world resort to homeschooling by choice, and not by force or necessity, or because their children were denied school education. There are many reasons behind it, and we will be taking a look at two of the most common ones below. The two biggest motives of homeschooling Parents who are more interested in getting very actively involved with the education of their children, as well as want to be sure about what they are taught, are probably more likely to consider homeschooling. Similarly, many parents nowadays don’t have much faith in the local schools and formal education, especially due to concerns over the quality of academic education provided, many reports in the past revealing the harmful effects of formal education on children before they reach the age of 8 to 12 years, high fees, besides many others. What are the requirements for homeschooling? The requirements for homeschooling may differ quite a bit from country to country, and even from state to state, especially when it comes to the US. As far as Asian countries are concerned, there don’t really seem to be many laws related to homeschooling. So it certainly seems to be quite convenient to homeschool a child in the Asian countries. Coming to the US, however, as mentioned earlier, the laws vary from state to state. While some states have few to no requirements at all, some others require the children being given education at home to take up tests at certain intervals. However, according to Holt, author of the best-selling book, Teach Your Own, it’s actually beyond the legal requirements.

  2. Holt thinks that the only requirement for homeschooling children is that the parents like their children, their presence, their questions and crazy ideas, foolishness, passion, as well as enjoy their company. A look at the debates There have been many debates about the better option between homeschooling and formal education, just as the ones shared by Kartikeya Sharma, India News. Other than that, however, there also seem to be many legal battles being fought over the issue. Some of the strong evidences provided by the homeschooling supporters, however, seemingly had an upper hand. This is due to the fact that many children who were made to take up formal education before the age of 8 to 12 revealed that the education provided turned out to be inefficient, and even harmed the children in many ways.
