  2. Students • 3rd grade: 125 • 4th grade: 124 • 5th grade: 145 • Total Enrollment: 394 • No students were retained 2012-2013 school year • Title 1 Cost per pupil $498.80 • 69% are identified as economically disadvantaged and receive free or reduced meals.

Score Reports • State Expectations • Literacy: 77.16% • Math: 86.51% • Literacy Benchmark Exam • Fourth and Fifth grade students exceeded state expectations • Third grade students were 6% lower than state expectations • Mathematics Benchmark Exam • Third grade scored 4% lower than state expectation • Fourth grade scored 14% lower than state expectation • Fifth grade scored 30% lower than state expectation • Note: state averages on the math exams were: • 3rd: 86%, 4th: 82%, 5th 70% (state average was 20% lower in fifth grade) • Since Lonoke Elementary did not meet state expectations in every grade for each subject, LES was identified as a “Needs Improvement School for Literacy and Mathematics”

Interventions • Literacy • Read 180 and System 44 Programs are being implemented for 4th and 5th grade students struggling in literacy • Teachers will participate in a Common Core Literacy book study and professional development: Pathways to Common Core • Literacy assessments: DRA, DIBLES, DSA will be given to identify student need • Teachers will attend literacy professional development based on the comprehensive literacy model (Effective Literacy) • Organize the teacher “book room”. Teachers can check out books for students to read and work with as interventions. • Utilize the 21CCLC and homework hotline afterschool programs. • Paraprofessionals will provide interventions for struggling students.

Interventions • Mathematics • Adopt, purchase, and train teachers in a vertically aligned math program: Math in Focus • A web link to the math program is available for students and parents to access the math text at home along with virtual manipulatives to provide extended help and practice. • Teachers will participate in a Common Core Math book study and professional development: Number Talks • Teachers will participate in math professional development: CGI • Paraprofessionals will provide interventions for struggling students. • Utilize the 21CCLC and homework hotline afterschool programs.

Measurable Data • TLI assessments will be given and disaggregated to determine student interventions and need. • Pre and Post math tests will be given to determine student learning and growth. • Classroom focus walks and observations will be conducted and individual feedback will be given. • Arkansas Benchmark Exam given in April • Pilot School for the PARCC: Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers • 2 fourth grade math classes will participate in the spring

  18. Curriculum • Common Core State Standards will be implemented in all classrooms. • Comprehensive Literacy Model • Math in Focus • Inclusion and pull out for students identified • ALE classroom for students identified • Gifted and Talented

Programs • Rabbits ROCK behavior management • Respect, Optimistic, Careful, Kind • Students earn “behavior bucks” and visit the Rockin Rabbit bookstore every Friday. • Students who only lose 2 bucks a month attend Rockin Rabbit Recess • Rabbit Rovers • Dads, granddads, uncles, etc. who volunteer to hang out at the school and serve as mentors or helpers for the day. • Fund raising • Field trips • Various informational programs (drug awareness, fire safety, bus safety, freedom week, cyber bullying) • Adopt a Rabbit: classes adopt a high school athlete and visit with them on Friday home games • High School “Big Brother/Big Sister” • Station LES • TESS (Teacher Excellence Support System)

  20. School Safety • Every month we conduct fire drills • We also utilize our Safe Room with at least 3 tornado drills per year • All outside doors and classroom doors remain locked throughout the school day • Our school utilizes, “Hall Pass” which requires: all visitors must be buzzed in and enter through the school office, have their drivers’ license scanned, and receive a visitors pass • A detailed school map was created for first responders, fire department, and police. • An active shooter drill will be conducted during second semester with state and local police forces. • We are also looking at installing additional security cameras for our building.
