What do we learn in 6th Grade?? • Safety and Sanitation • Kitchen Basics (Reading a recipe, kitchen tools, measuring, equivalents, abbreviations, cooking terms) • Snack Unit (Reading a nutrition label, snack wrapper project) • Breakfast Unit (Importance of Breakfast) • Lunch Unit (Creating a menu item and description/Quesadilla Challenge) • Dinner Unit (Myplate, planning a meal, Chef Project)

  3. Grading • 80% Assessments and 20% practice • What counts as an assessment? Assessments: Cooking Labs Projects Tests

  4. What do you need for class?? • Folder with loose leaf paper or a small notebook • Something to write with • Highlighter and a grading pen • Good Atttitude!

  5. Labs • Possible labs this semester: • Monkey Bread Muffins • Superchip Cookie • Fruit Dip • Kool-aid equivalent simulation • Mini-Wonton Quiche • Stuffed Pizza Bites • Pancakes and Egg McMuffin Sandwiches • Quesadillas • Easy dinner labs- Walking Tacos Other Possiblities: Sloppy Joes, Chicken A’ La King, Skillet Lasagna
