  2. Introduction You have been granted scholarship at Warsaw University, Poland. You feel honoured and very exited. As you are from Czech Prague and you have never been to Poland before, there is a number of things you have to arrange and know before you move to Warsaw.

  3. Task 1: Before You Get on Your Way You don’t know much about Poland. Find: • general information – population, neighbours, religion, if and when Poland joined EU • tradition - choose and briefly describe 2 traditional holidays • you are vegetarian – find out if in Polish traditional cuisine there are some dishes without meat, choose one dish that sounds good • read and describe three important and famous Poles, explain your choice

Task 2: On Your Way to Warsaw There: • find out if you need visa to Poland • check the exchange rate and relation between Polish and Czech currency, euro • find an address and opening hours of Czech embassy • you are going to travel from Prague to Warsaw by train on Monday 30 Sept. 2005, find the best train connection

  7. Task 3: Living in Warsaw You are going to live in Warsaw for at least half a year. Make your life easier and learn about capital of Poland: • find out some data about Warsaw • choose and describe three places you would like to visit in Warsaw, justify your choice • you will study at Warsaw University, find some info about it (eg. The year of foundation, etc), find the localisation of Warsaw University • find the localisation of University Library, check the opening hours • find out about the means of public transport
