  2. Crime • The word crime originates from the Latin crīmen (genitive: criminis), from the root of Latin cernō = "I decide, I give judgement" and Greek κρινω = "I judge".   5. According to the FBI there were more that12 million crimes committed last year through the world alone. Many of those probably went unsolved. This means there is a mother who wakes up everyday hoping that they find her missing child, or a husband hoping to find his missing wife.   9. According to the Interpol data, the murder rate in the UAE increased from 130.00 to 209.90 per 100,000 population between 1998 and 1999. • Over the last ten years in Turkey, 24391 people have been detained by the police and of those 8602 arrested in 3012 operations against gangs.

  13. What do countries with fewer crime rate have? • For example: UAE (UNITED ARAB EMIRATES) • People have jobs. • Children are educated but they have to pay fee public and private. • Police stations are abundant. • Law is strict and strong. http://frjessie.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/uae.gif

So what can be done to stop crime? • Build more police station per square meter. • Educate people • Pensions • Strengthen responses for victims of violence. • People who commit crime should face severe punishment. • Gun control, everyone who buys a gun should buy it legally and should be in the record of government.

  15. How to stop crime before it happens? • Find positive ways for youth, so they think about their future and find something helpful. • Build a partnership with police, focused on solving problems with police. • Stopping crime requires a total community effort and it can be accomplished. • If a dealer is in your community you can inform an officer and make him go away. • . Set up a Neighborhood Watch or a community patrol, working with police. Make sure your streets and homes are well lighted.
