  7. Vocabulary Here is the process….In your groups you will meet in the break-out rooms that I assign to you. Once you are there, you will discuss the terms and come up with a definition for the words on the list. Only resort to a dictionary if your group can not discern the meaning from the context clue provided.

  8. Vocabulary List #2 • She stood at the door to her bedroom, scowling at her mother's back; she didn't think she deserved a time out for hitting her bratty brother. • He took his charge to the magistrate hoping for a quick and impartial judgment. • They pinioned her arms and pricked her leg with a pin; if she bled she was innocent. • He gazed intently at the window, waiting for the arrival of a familiar spirit. • They did not employ conventional methods for finding witches; theirs were unorthodox and unfamiliar ways.

Continue… • It never occurred to them that any of their examination procedures could be fallible. • She had suffered great indignities after the arrest, from having her person searched to an upturning of her household possessions. • The man had come down with an unidentified affliction and died shortly thereafter. • They believed the devil would manifest himself in one of her familiar pets. • The cat's eyes were luminous and bright in the dark of the evening light.
