  1. Exercise 1 • Read the following conversation and draft a suitable application for Anwar. • Akash: Hello Anwar! I thought you were in Chennai! What are you doing in Bangalore? • Anwar: Akash! What a pleasant surprise! It is ten years since we left College. Tell me, what are you doing? • Akash: Dad’s business, boy! I am doing fine and able to manage the business now that Dad is retired. What about you? • Anwar: I did my post graduation in Human Resource Management, was with Messrs. BVR Tyres as their Training and Development Manager. Now I am looking for a change and on the look-out for a good opening in Bangalore. • Akash: Anwar, today’s Times of India has an ad for HR Manager for HAL. I am a supplier to HAL and I know that you will like the atmosphere. Why don’t you apply? • Anwar: Sure. I shall do that. Thanks a lot, Akash!

I was your student in BSc. • Prof. Dinesh: Hello, Abhilash, how can I forget you? You were one of those wonderful students! • Abhilash: Thank you, Sir. • Prof.Dines: Well, my son, where are you working now? I heard you went to Yale University and took up teaching there. • Abhilash: Yes Sir, I was in the US for 15 years and I feel that I should do my bit for the students here. I want to take up teaching here. • Prof.Dinesh: Good. Why don’t you try in your own college here in Pune? • Abhilash: That is what I want to do Sir. • Prof.Dinesh: I am a visiting Professor in our College, and there is a vacancy in the Computer Science Department. Why don’t you apply to the Principal? • Abhilash: I shall do that Sir, thank you very much. • Prof.Dinesh: All the best, my son! We need faculty like you to guide the youngsters

What are you doing in Bijapur? • Sheela: I am working as a Public Relations Officer in a private company. • Tina: But.. your husband, children? • Sheela: They are in Bangalore with my parents –in-law. I was transferred here by my head office. I am looking for a change since I want to go back to Bangalore • Tina: Don’t worry dear. We have a vacancy in our Bangalore office. Write to our CEO, giving my name as reference. • Sheela: That would be nice. Can you give me Bangalore address? • Tina: Sure. Our office is at 210, Aishwarya Complex, MG Road, Bangalore -45. • Sheela : I shall apply tomorrow. Thanks Tina
