  3. Frame • We will describe how self-esteem impacts our personality? • EQ: In what ways does self-esteem impact our actions and how we portray ourselves. • I will complete a handout describing my personality.

  4. Rules for Training • Participation is crucial • No wrong/stupid answers • Respect one another • No talking while others talk, • No rude comments or noises • Wait until you’re called upon

  5. Why we’re here… • Because we have to be • To learn some skills that will carry over into adulthood • To learn more about ourselves

  6. How we’re going to do it… • Discussion • Everyone participates • Some, very little lecture • Activity or activities • Some Conclusions

  8. Ice Breaker • What is an ice breaker? • Definition of an ice breaker: • An activity used to lighten the mood and or get participants warmed up to the idea of interaction

Topic of the Day: Self-Esteem • Isthere a difference between self-esteem and smugness or conceit? • When we say someone has high self-esteem, what does that mean? • How can your self-esteem affect your personal success and happiness? • What causes low self-esteem?   11. Topic of the Day: Self-Esteem • When you make really good choices for yourself, how does that make you feel? • Have you ever made yourself feel bad by comparing yourself with others? Is it good to compare yourself with others? Why not? • Is our self-esteem permanent or does it change? Resource: www.goodcharacter.com

  12. Things we know…. The way we feel about ourselves has a huge affect on the way we treat ourselves and others, and on the kinds of choices we make. Here are some things you can do to raise or reinforce your self-esteem: • Spend time with people who like you and care about you. • Develop your talents. Resource: www.goodcharacter.com

Other things we know…. • Make good choices for yourself, and don’t let others make your choices for you. • Take responsibility for yourself, your choices, and your actions. • Always do what you believe is right. • Respect other people and treat them right. • Set goals and work to achieve them.
