  3. OUTLINE Introduction Importance of Health Insurance Types Of Health Insurance References

  4. Introduction Health insurance is a type of insurance coverage that covers the cost of an insured individual's medical and surgical expenses. In health insurance terminology, a clinic, hospital, doctor, laboratory, healthcare practitioner, or pharmacy that treats an individual is known as the "provider." The "insured" is the owner of the health insurance policy or the person with the health insurance coverage.

  5. . Depending on the type of health insurance coverage, either the insured pays costs out of pocket and is then reimbursed, or the insurer makes payments directly to the provider.

  6. Importance of Health Insurance Having health insurance is important for several reasons. Uninsured people receive less medical care and less timely care, they have worse health outcomes, and lack of insurance is a fiscal burden for them and their families. Moreover, the benefits of expanding coverage outweigh the costs for added services. Safety-net care from hospitals and clinics improves access to care but does not fully substitute for health insurance. These findings are supported by much research, although some cautions are appropriate in using these results.

  7. Types Of Health Insurance There are various types of health insurance available and some of these are listed below : Group Health Insurance : Medicare : Supplemental Insurance : Obama Care : Life insurance : Dental Insurance : Short Term

  8. Group Health Insurance A group health insurance plan is a health insurance plan that provides coverage to members of a group that tends to be employees of a company or members of an organization. Members of the group usually receive insurance at a reduced cost because the insurer’s risk is spread across a group of policyholders.

  10. Medicare Medicare is the federal health insurance program for: People who are 65 or older. Certain younger people with disabilities. People with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD)

  11. Supplemental Insurance Supplemental insurance is extra or additional insurance that you can purchase to help you pay for services and out-of-pocket expenses that your regular insurance does not cover. Some supplemental insurance plans will pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance

  12. Obama Care Obama care is the nickname for the law titled ‘The patient Protection & Affordable Care Act’. This law covers all health insurance policies sold in The U.S.A. today. The requires insurance companies to offer coverage to anyone legally in the country regardless of their health conditions.

  13. Life insurance Life insurance is a contract between an insurer and a policyholder in which the insurer guarantees payment of a death benefit to named beneficiaries upon the death of the insured. The insurance company promises a death benefit in consideration of the payment of premium by the insured.

  14. Life Insurance

  15. Dental Insurance Dental insurance is a form of health insurance designed to pay a portion of the costs associated with dental care. There are several different types of individual, family, or group dental insurance plans grouped into three primary categories: Indemnity, Preferred Provider Network (PPO), and Dental Health Managed Organizations (DHMO).

  16. Short Term Short Term health insurance, sometimes called Term health insurance or Temporary health insurance, is designed to help bridge gaps in your health care coverage during times of transition.2 And if you’ll pardon the pun, you’ll find no “shortage” of information online telling you what Short Term Medical insurance isn’t or what it can’t do for you. But for many people, and for many situations, the best Short Term health insurance plan they can find may just be the right solution.
