Discussion • What positive attitudes or views towards immigrants were depicted in these cartoons? • What negative attitudes/views? • What was difficult about analyzing cartoons? • Based on the cartoons, what kind of a reception do you think immigrants could expect when they arrived? • How do you think an immigrant might react if they picked up a newspaper and saw one of these cartoons? • In what ways were attitudes towards immigration different or similar to attitudes now?

Homework • Create a political cartoon showing either your attitude or the attitude you think most Americans hold towards immigrants today. • Include a caption • Use color • In your spiral • Below your cartoon, write a short explanation of your cartoon • Be respectful • Do not copy your cartoon from any source.
