Individually we have done a good job with junior

programmes at “our” clubs.

As a team at SGA we can create a “world class”

junior academy programme.

Other PGA Golf Professionals will be invited to

assist with SGA programmes.

Utilize skills and services of many other experienced golfers

and sporting identities in Otago

JUNIOR GOLF

Last 10 years - the same

NZGA has approximately 8,000 youngsters registered

Constant despite the Tiger Woods era and

Michael Campbell winning the 2005 US Open.

Less than 20% of Junior Golfers play regularly.

The goal of SGA is to increase Junior Golf membership and dramatically increase the participation level

Slide8 l.jpg

JUNIOR GOLF IN OTAGO

HAS STRUGGLED

lack of consistent funding

lack of cohesive planning and a reliance on individuals

SGA will pool the collective resources, create and maintain high quality programmes, work with clubs, travel to country regions and foster the younger players.

Slide9 l.jpg

KIDS PLAYING GOLF

Keep them interested

SGA promoting playing and competing on a continuous cycle

SGA to provide golf programmes that cater to young players which will recognise their abilities, support their learning and acknowledge their growth and achievements

Slide10 l.jpg

GOLF CLUBS & JUNIOR GOLF

Some golf clubs have very good programmes.

Complement club programmes and assist young golfers to develop their game to take to play at the next level.

Slide11 l.jpg

GOLF CLUBS BENEFIT

More members!

Kids start playing

Parents, grandparents and friends are dragged along and also

introduced to the game.

They become members

The cycle continues as they then introduce…….

Slide12 l.jpg

PLAYING FOR FUN

Not all young golfers will have aspirations to play golf seriously but by

assisting them to learn the game at a recreational level we will have

greater chance of them being active in the game for the long run.
