  5. Technical College • Accuplacer for FVTC – October 7 @ 2:30pm • May take twice • Sent electronically • Apply online

  6. 4 year College & Freshmen/Sophomore Campus • ACT – October 26 or December 14 @ 8:00am • Apply early • Required essay may also be used for scholarships • Comprehensive Review; Rigor outweighs ACT score • Campus visit

  7. Application Process • Apply online • Pay Application Fees • Request Official Transcript • High school, College • Class translation for college courses • WI Covenant • ACT Test Scores

  10. College Justifier • Unemployment Rates of 25-34 yr olds: • High School diploma – 13% • Two-year degree – 6.6% • Four-year degree – 3.5% • 63% of jobs in the US require some post-high school education

Financial Aid – first step • FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) after January 1 • www.fafsa.gov • www.pin.ed.gov • www.studentaid.ed.gov/worksheet • College Goal Wisconsin – Third weekend of February • SAR (Student Aid Report) • Separate Financial Aid Awards from each college • Accept/Decline awards

  13. Types of Scholarships: • General – Student Services website updated constantly • Local – late December • College-specific Tips: • Set up separate e-mail account • Beware of scholarship scams

  14. Placement Exams • 4 year colleges may require to determine placement in core classes • Info will be mailed or e-mailed to you in early spring • Tests are taken throughout WI • No fee

  15. College-Level Examination Program • CLEP – 33 exams • http://clep.collegeboard.org • Find out if your college accepts CLEP • Register online • Fee – about $80 per exam

  16. To do list: • Apply to college • Request high school transcript • Request college transcript(s) • Accuplacer or ACT scores sent to college • Apply for scholarships • FAFSA after January 1 • College housing fee • Placement exams (4 yr college)
