  2. What is it? In this book there is a boy who is being bullied. And now that his parents have gotten better paying jobs. Attribute: The characters act so real. Its something that people do in real life that is what makes it realistic fiction. Title: The Bully What is your book’s genre? Write it here: Realistic Fiction Attribute: The main character left his old school because his parents found a new home and job. Example: Brothers In Arms by Paul Langan & Ben Alirez Example: Someone to Love Meby Anne Schraff Attribute: when he went to his new school he had very few friends. Example: Blood is Thicker by Paul & D.M Blackwell

  3. The characters act so real. Its something that people do in real life that is what makes it realistic fiction. “Jason said the school you’ll be going to is pretty new. Its an old neighborhood, but the school is only about fifteen years old. Its called Bluford High. (11) “I hated to leave my friends too, Darrel,” she continued. “I made some wonderful friends at the office and on our street, and I wont know anybody in California either except for my brother and his family.”(15) Its different with you, mom, Darrel thought. You make friends so easily. I’ll be in class with kids who’ve gone through middle school together and had two months in high school to get used to each other. They’ll see this kid from Philly who is 12yrs old, and I am in for it.(28)

  4. The main character left his old school because his parents found a new home and job. “Man, I can’t believe you’re movin’ to California tomorrow,” Malik said. “I just can’t believe I wont see you no more.”(1) “Are you okay?” she asked, reaching an arm out to comfort him.(12) I’ll miss you, man,” Darrell said, his voice wavering.(9)

  5. When he went to his new school he had very few friends. “Are you liking the neighborhood,” asked Dad. “Its okay I will get used to it.” Darrel said.(38) “Hello my name is Ashley, would you like to come and sit with my friends and I,” Sure, exclaimed Darrel. (45) Hello Darrel, How was school today, Mom asked. “My first day there was horrible. “I didn’t know anybody,” Darrel said.(30)

  6. EVALUATION: Is The Bully a good example of a realistic fiction? • Paul Langan did an awesome job writing this novel and her others having help from several other authors. He made this novel seem so real. The things that happened in this story also can or may happen in real LIFE!!!!! Although the parents in life may not find new jobs and a new home. But I highly doubt that the child that is being bullies misses it. In this story this character apparently did. Surprise me, this character wanted someone to bully him because he was so used to it, that he couldn’t resist it. But throughout the story and at the end he went back to his other school and continued being bullied.
