  1. The Zone System is a tool for both students and teachers. It helps the student express their feeling and allows the teacher to set expectations and individualize student work for the school day. The Zone System

  2. The Zones: Each “zone” represents different feelings we experience. When students arrive in the morning they pick a card that represents the “zone” they are in. The teacher picks a card and models their zone. The class then has a group discussion about each student’s zone. Our goal is focusing on the positive zones and what can be done to improve the negative zones. • Pink= mean, yelling, angry, terrified. • Green= calm, happy, focused, content. • Orange= frustrated, excited, silly, grouchy. • Blue= sad, sick, tired, bored.

  3. The Zones What has worked for my classroom: What has not worked for my students: Some have a difficult time expressing feelings verbally. Writing down how they feel. • Setting a morning routine. • Picking a zone for myself.
