  1. Warm Up- October 18, 2010 Journal Writing In your own words write a brief paragraph explaining why you think there is no current Confederation form of Government that exist. Be prepared to share 

  2. SS7CG1 The student will compare and contrast various forms of government a. Describe the ways government systems distribute power: unitary, confederation, and federal. b. Explain how governments determine citizen participation: autocratic, oligarchic, and democratic.

  3. Essential Question How do autocratic, oligarchic, and democratic governments determine citizen participation?

  4. CFU - Response Cards • Have students quickly create 4 response cards for the following responses; Writing just the red letters is fine. One card for each • Democracy – Republic,=DR • Autocracy – Monarchy, = AM • Autocracy - Dictatorship, = AD • Oligarchy – theocracy. = OT 

  5. Work Period – Part 1 Using the “Government Descriptions” handout and your notes, create a short skit (less than 4 minutes).  You and members of your group will be assigned one of the following governments to create a skit about:  • Democracy – Republic, • Autocracy – Monarchy, • Autocracy - Dictatorship, • Oligarchy – theocracy. The   skit should give following information: • how leaders take power • The amount of freedoms people have, and who has economic control. You and your group will have the entire class period today to work on the skit and be prepared to present it to the class during our next class meeting.

  6. Work Period – Part 2 • Skit Performances on Forms of Government • Students not performing will complete peer evaluations on presenting groups.  CFU - At the end of each skit~ Teacher will ask what form of Government was just modeled, students will hold up the correct response

  7. Closing- Peer Feedback – Students will write positive feedback on a sticky note and present their comments to the performing groups. Encourage students to use the language of the standards in their commentary.
