  1. Simple Sentence- a simple sentence has ONE INDEPENDENT clause and NO subordinate clause. Compound Sentence – has TWO or MORE independent clauses and NO subordinate clauses. The independent clauses are connected by coordinating conjunctions, conjunctive adverbs, or a semi-colon. Complex sentence – has at least two parts: one independent clause and one subordinate clause. The subordinate clause is linked to the rest of the sentence by a subordinating conjunctions. Independent clause – has a subject and a verb and expresses a COMPLETE thought; It can stand by itself as a complete sentence. Subordinate clause – (or dependent clause) has a subject and a verb butdoes not express a complete thought and cannot stand by itself as a complete sentence Ttk Wordsmarch 18, 2014
