  3. Drive-Reduction Theory • Humans learn to do whatever it takes to reduce tension • Homeostasis-internal state of balance • What about stress? • How does this apply?

  4. Humanistic Theory • People are also motivated by a CONSCIOUS desire for personal growth and artistic fullfillment.

  5. Maslow’s Hierarchy

  6. Socio-cultural Theory • People use cultural experience to satisfy inborn drives. • Ex. Kissing lips or rubbing noses • Eating spicy or mild food • What do you prefer?
