  1. Using the small blocks and tubes, try to experience as many science and technology KDIs as you can. • Jot down your thoughts for this area on p. 8 in your training booklet.

  2. Look through the pictures of children playing in the block area. • Identify the parts of the preschool scientific method present in each photo. • Turn to page 8 in your training booklet and jot down your thoughts for this area.

  3. Explore the two ingredients at the table using the bowls and spoons provided. • Identify the science and technology KDIs that you experienced. • Record your thoughts on p. 10 in your training booklet.

  4. Look through the photographs of materials from the sand and water table. • How might children use these materials in a way that would support the science and KDIs? • Turn to page 10 in your training booklet and record your thoughts.

  5. With your partner, make 1 item of clothing for a stuffed animal. • List the science and technology KDIs you experienced. • e.g., Predicting – I don’t think the yarn is strong enough to use as a belt for the pants. • On p. 9 in your training booklet record how you think children might engage in science and technology in the house area.

  6. Look through the pictures of children in the art area. • Identify the science and technology KDIs present in each photo. • Turn to p. 9 in your training booklet and record your thoughts.

  7. Turn to page 11 in your training booklet. • Read about Melody’s experience in the toy area. Use the column on the right to record the science and technology KDIs Melody experiences. • Record additional thoughts you have about science in the toy area on at the bottom of p. 8.

  8. Walk around the outside play space. Try to experience all of the science and technology KDIs. • Turn to p. 10 in your training booklet and record your thoughts about children experiencing science and technology outdoors. Outdoor Play Space

Explore the materials and talk about the science and technology KDIs that you used. • Using all your science senses, reexamine what your children do during outside time. • Turn to page 10 in your training booklet and record your thoughts discovering the science and technology KDIs outdoors.
