  1. BBA – HOD(Message) • Each one of us are unique and HERO in our own sense and essence. I urge you all to be YOU and not try to be anyone else. I feel biggest achievement of education is when you learn your purpose and very basis of your existence, to be humble, noble and resourceful. • The first step to success is not be afraid to TRY and not to be afraid of failing, because every failure teaches you ways in which success can’t be achieved and knowing that is biggest SUCCESS. • Ships are safer in harbour, but that is not what ships are built for. • To me leader is someone who breeds more leaders. We at BBA department endeavour to provide you with opportunities, an environment filled with TRUST, where you will feel safe in case you fall until you learn to walk and keep walking…

You become what you think most of the time, so envision joy, thrill, achievements and your dreams… because world is made twice – first in your mind and then in real life…” • I dedicate this second issue of BBA e-newsletter “Sankalp” to that indomitable spirit of BBA students. 3. Editorial Team’s View The second edition of the BBA News Letter is now in your reach. The response to the debut issue has been overwhelming for each one of us and stimulated the total team to work further with greater enthusiasm. While we are nearing the end of the session, it is time to ponder upon the shortcomings we have experienced and build them as stepping stones to do better in all fields in the upcoming session which would arrive with more challenges because we have to welcome and mould fresher students to the PIET culture .

  4. MARCH the month which has a very special significance for students. This part of the year trumpets aloud the end of sessions and the word ‘March’ means that the journey is to continue ever. The point to ponder is that life is an ever moving process because it is directly related to time. Let this MARCH be unique for you to enlighten you in various aspects and the march of your life takes you to newer heights which have remained unexplored earlier. All the best.

  5. We welcome: Ms. Pooja Gupta to the BBA team to plug the holes and establish a bondage with PIET.

  6. BBA- Iyr, IIyr, IIIyr Star THE BIG-BANG once again. It was the season of creating STARS in the department and the same was done through Big-Bang theory.

  7. Round 1 To make the process Religious, Authentic And Effective, the students had to go through test for selection for the second round. 60 students participated and 15 were selected in the first step.

  8. Round 2 It was the shaping round for the selected ones to go through the Group Discussions to prove their mettle to be a star.

  9. Round 3 From GD the march was to presentation session, a skill that takes the aspirants closest to being the final star.

  10. Final Round Of course you have to undergo an interview with God before you are titled ‘STAR’. And here it was none less than The Reverend Director Sir, the Head of the Institute. And the the following got tottled:

  11. BBA STAR (1st Year) The felicitation ceremony for the BBA Stars was held in the office of Sh. RakeshTayal, Member BOG who was highly appreciable of the event organised by department which, he said, would go a long way in shaping their personalities to a much greater extent, as we all learn more by participating than by just reading books.. Presenting ONE STAR brooch and certificate to Ms. VANDANA BAJAJ, BBA Ist year, (Section B) student.

  12. BBA STAR (2nd Year) It is Mr. Ratul from 2nd Year (Section A) who proved his mettle in the star battle receiving the TWO STAR Brooch and certificate from Sh. RakeshTayal and Director Sir.

  13. BBA STAR (3rd Year) From 3rd. Year the title goes to Mr. SahilMunjal (Section A) Seen in the picture receiving his THREE STAR brooch and certificate. Sh. RakeshTayal wished all the best for future contests and said beautifully “Good Job Done”

  14. BBA STAR (1st Year, Sec B): Vandna’s Take I am grateful on receiving this reward. I will always be indebted for all the teachings I have received here. This short journey of participation in “BBA Star” was very beautiful. It was really a very nice experience. I got to learn a lot about how to give a good presentation and how to be confident for an interview. I overcame my fear of public speaking. In short it was a great experience and I would love to participate in this event every semester. Thank you for recognizing and rewarding my efforts and for making me a part of this competition.

  15. BBA STAR (2nd Year, Sec A): Ratul’s Take After winning the position of star student of BBA I came to know that nothing is impossible if you have tremendous will power and action plan for performing that task. It was my first 1st experience in such an event. After winning the competition now my confidence level is very high. I feel like an important part of my college. It was a great feeling to be the part of such an amazing event. I shall advice my friends to participate more as you never know where you discover yourself. Thanks to PIET College, BBA Department and my classmates for encouraging me.

  16. BBA STAR (3rd Year, Sec A): SahilMunjal’s Take My opinion about this initiative is that you all have done a great Job. Such initiatives, which are a source of motivation, and contribute to personal development side by side is what the department needs for continuous innovation in learning experience. My experience has bought a belief that BBA Department will do wonders. So I want to recommend that these initiatives should not remain as a competition other than academics. But rather, in coordination with the H.O.D sir, the time table should be adjusted in such a way that these kind of initiatives should remain in parallel existence with the initiatives, and all students should participate in it. More and more innovative ideas should be discussed to bring out of the box skill development in the curriculum. The platform has been set, seeing the current response, I am sure that the cultural committee will keep on going and will explore the unexplored areas.

  33. Asst. Prof. Mr. Vikas Nain Blog on : India’s Success

  34. India’s Success • Over the past decade much has been said about India Inc.’s success story in the Indian tabloids and journals. While taking a cursory look on the pitiable condition of the vast majority of people, especially living in suburbs and countryside, the ‘India-shining’ versions sound to be over-hyped by the Indian media which is undoubtedly controlled and represented by the wealthy section of society. Primarily, there could be three reasons behind this hype. • (i) Either the Indian media takes into their reckoning only the metropolitan cities and do not consider it necessary to zoom their lenses on the blind alleys of the suburban ghettoes and the desolate hamlets of the dusty countryside, OR • (ii) it could be a deliberate attempt to create a perception that India is really progressing and there is no room for any dissenting voice or revolt highlighting the plight of hapless ghetto-dwellers and the poverty stricken village farmers or farm/industrial laborers. The latter could, perhaps, be on the behest of a deadly nexus between the filthy rich and the self-seeking political dynasties of all hues with a clear intent to avoid any social unrest/upheaval thereby perpetuating their hegemony in their respective fiefdoms.

  35. India’s Success cont… • (iii) Last, but not the least, could also be an intellectual hallucination of the Indian Academia which is not familiar with the vagaries of a rural India and the sub-human life-style there. Going by the different narratives of our esteemed writers, economists and the media-persons to reckon with, who chronicle the success story of economic growth, the major parameters of ‘India-shining’ are; a substantial increase in the number of billionaires in Forbes list, glitzy shopping malls selling glamorous accessories on Gurgaon-Mehrauli Road, SUVs and luxury cars gliding on Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore roads, a few IT Parks in Bangalore, Chennai and Gurgaon. If the above are the only parameters of our success story, they (Academia) need to come out of the slumber of insouciance and, of course, their intellectual hallucination.

  36. Asst. Prof. Mr. ChandSaini Blog on : E-tail eats into Retail

  37. E-tail eats into Retail Online retail heat altering brick & mortar models • In the last five years, online retail -- both direct and through marketplaces – has had a helluva ride, going from nascence to critical mass. So much so, today it has started to threaten the traditional brick-and-mortar retail. Recognizing the danger, many physical retailers have started to establish or beef up their online presence. Researches believes some of them, who play to their strengths of physical reach and multi location presence, will be able to build successful and, more importantly, complementary, business models.

  38. E-tail eats into Retail cont… Traditional retailers being forced to move online • To stay in the game, traditional retailers have been working on their internet strategy. For instance, Shoppers Stop, which started its online store in 2008, has boosted presence and improved features and user interface to bring its online visage on a par with leading e-commerce websites. The company is also trying to leverage its physical network by giving customers the option to return products at its stores. Apart from Shoppers Stop, Croma has an online store with options such as store pickup and cash on delivery. Even manufacturers of retail products such as Titan Industries (watches, jewellery, eyewear, etc) and Aditya Birla Nuvo (apparel - Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Peter England, etc) have set up beachheads in cyberspace. Going ahead, we believe more and more traditional retailers will board the online bandwagon.

  39. Asst. Prof. Ms. ReenaKhurana Blog on : A Loving Relationship with Yourself: Source of Happiness

  40. A Loving Relationship with Yourself: Source of Happiness • Human beings, through their consciousness, have created very beautiful concept of relationships. We utilize our mental, physical and psychic energies to build beautiful relationships with others. • But, the first relationship should always be with yourself. One must have a very clear relationship with oneself, knowing why one feels the way one does, why one thinks in a particular way. • Subsequently, one should think, why does one want a relationship? Is it for happiness, for security? And if it is actually so, then the best source of happiness and security is the Divine. Divinity is present everywhere, also in those who you consider close to you.

  41. A Loving Relationship with Yourself: Source of Happiness Cont… • In our daily life we can find divinity in our parents, friends and relatives, by being sincere and faithful to them. The key is to give and serve without expectation. • Our body is like a TV set, which displays visuals all the time. So, when you display negative things, it is in your hands to change the channel. • Relationships get sour primarily due to ego. Use your ego, but don’t allow your ego to use you. If your ego is using you, you will see ego everywhere. Only ego sees ego. • So, first become self-aware, develop positive attitude, forget ego and build good relationships. • Life is beautiful, start living it.
