Centennial Landmarks • U of MN School of Nursing : • Longest continuously operated university-based school of nursing in the world • Research-intensive; in top 5% of schools of nursing in the USA • SON has the only PhD program in the state (n=128 graduates) • More than 12,500 nursing degrees have been granted. • Housed on 2 campuses - one in the Twin Cities & the other in Rochester

The School of NursingA Century in the Making • 1909 • 8 students • 1 nursing instructor • Curriculum included the Practice of Nursing & Dietetics • Initial clinical practice was at a 25 bed hospital • Tuition $25/semester • 2008-2009 • 980 students (49% UG; 51% GRAD) • 40 Tenured/tenure track faculty • 39 Clinical Track faculty • Five degree; dual degree, & certificate programs • Clinical practice -248 partnerships across all settings • Tuition $326/credit
