  1. Transformer Oil Filtration Unit Parts and Advantages Maintenance and care taker of transformers use oil filter unit to treat transformer oil. They use this unit for transformer oil filtration. In this article, we will discuss about this unit and its advantages. The oil filter unit has a filter base, two or four filter housings, a pump, an electric motor, two sample valves, an electric connection box, and two threaded connections. You will also find a pressure switch that offers a signal when the pressure drop over the filter is such that a replacement of a filter insert is required. The motor will not be stopped by this switch; it only notifies the filter status. The oil pump of the unit is mounted on the motor. The unit has a screw type pump. It also has two sample valves and the motor mounted over the filter base. The filter base is also mounted with filter housings. Filter inserts are offered distinctly and should be mounted in the filter housings prior starting the filter unit.

  2. A strainer with a mesh (0.5mm width) is applied in the filter unit. Strainer prevents oil pump from damage through big particles that enter the oil pump. This strainer is applied over the soil suction pipe close to the oil filter unit. The unit also needs an electric power supply to the motor. This power supply has to be linked to the motor protective switch in the connection box. There are three connections in the pressure switch. The signal from this switch is recommended to be applied in a control room to use as an indication for filter insert replacement. Continuous oil filtration The oil filtration unit works on the continuous operation principle. The oil filtration runs constantly with a low and smooth flow rate. This offers numerous benefits like: Little control equipment needed Narrower pipes might be used No transformation in flow rates Lower risk of foam and gas bubbles Moisture removal works even if you are not operating the tap changer Use of transformer oil filtration unit is advantageous in many ways. The high dielectric strength in the oil will be maintained. It eliminates the risk of depositing sludge in highly electrically stressed areas. It lowers the mechanical wear and simplifies the maintenance work. If you want to know more info about oil filtering unit, ask manufacturers nearby your locality. Most of them are engaged in providing best knowledge about their products to the customers.
