Basically, transformer oil is also known as insulating oil is that oil which remains stable at high temperature. It has especially high electrical insulating properties and used in the oil filled transformer.It is liquid insulation in electrical power transformer and consumes heat generated by transformers.Transformer oil has a various function, the most essential of these are highly insulating and cooling properties.

Types of transformer Oil Actually, there are four types of transformer oil, but we use two types of transformer oil mostly. They are: • Naphthenic-based transformer oil: Naphthenic base transformer oil provides better low-temperature performance, which makes them ideal for formulation hydraulic fluids and automatic transmission fluids. • Paraffinic-based transformer oil: This oil has good thermal and oxidation durability and good temperature viscosity feature. • Silicone-based transformer oil: This oil is an environmental safe replacement for transformer. It has the feature of high stability. • Bio-based transformer oil: Bio-based transformer oil is obtained from the vegetable oil feedstocks. It is non-toxic in nature.
Applications of Transformer Oil • Distribution Transformer: This application of transformer are installed in the location of the city to provide the voltage at the consumer terminals. • Power Transformer: This application of transformer are are those transformer which are installed at an end of long high voltage transmission lines
