Lessons Learned: Transitioning fromDev/QA/IT toProduct Management Jon Amato (jon.amato@gmail.com; @jonamato) Independent Product Management/Marketing Consultant Jon Amato is an independent technical product marketing and product management consultant, with 19 years of experience in I.T. operations, security, strategy, policymaking, product management, development, and consulting, with a focus on corporate end-user computing and messaging environments. Previously, Jon worked as a Product Manager for IBM’s Internet Security Systems division, and was also a Principal Consultant with Cassandra Security.  Based in Atlanta, Jon holds the ISC2 CISSP certification. Peter Tosto(peter@tosto.com) Global Portfolio Strategist, IBM Corporation With a passion for design, usability, and business success, Peter has been developing products that users love for over 20 years. Peter currently serves as Global Portfolio Strategist at IBM where he drives the development and launch of new security service products. At Internet Security Systems (acquired by IBM in 2006), Peter led the development of the new Proventia line of security products. Prior to that, he was CIO at Monorail, Inc., was an IT manager at Compaq Computer Corporation, and was Director of Product Development at a small software company in Houston. Peter holds a BS degree from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Kennesaw State University. Peter is also a certified managerial coach. Bob Vincent (bob.vincent@gmail.com; @bobvincent) Product Manager, VersionOne Bob Vincent joined VersionOne in January 2010 as a Product Manager focusing on user centered design and agile methods.  Prior to VersionOne, Bob was a software engineer for 17 years.  He worked on commercial product development at IBM and Internet Security Systems and also worked in the consulting world.  Bob holds a bachelors degree in computer science from Georgia Tech.
