  8. 1 A Hardened Heart Seeks to Silence Truth

  9. Mark 3:1,2 And He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there with a withered hand. 2 And they were watching Him {to see} if He would heal him on the Sabbath, in order that they might accuse Him.

  10. Luke 6:6 And it came about on another Sabbath, that He entered the synagogue and was teaching; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.

  11. Matt. 12:10 And behold, {there was} a man with a withered hand. And they questioned Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath ?”

  12. John 2:13,14 And the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers seated.

John 2:15,16 And He made a scourge of cords, and drove {them} all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the moneychangers, and overturned their tables; 16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a house of merchandise.”

  20. 2 A Hardened Heart Is Self Serving

  21. Mark 3:3,4 And He said to the man with the withered hand, “Rise and {come} forward!” 4 And He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

  22. Mark 3:5 And after looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

  23. Mark 3:6 And the Pharisees went out and immediately {began} taking counsel with the Herodians against Him, {as} {to} how they might destroy Him.

  24. Matt. 12:11,12 And He said to them, “What man shall there be among you, who shall have one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it, and lift it out? 12 “Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! .....

  25. Mark 3:4 And He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

  26. Matt. 13:6 “But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
