  7. Esophagus – carries food to stomach. Peristalsis occurs. Esophagus

  8. Stomach – • mixes food by peristalsis. • proteins continue to digest. • absorbs water, sugar, and medicine. Stomach

  9. Small Intestines: • Most digestion occurs here. • Digestive enzymes come from the pancreas. • Bile comes from the liver and gall bladder. Small Intestines

  10. Large Intestine/Colon • Absorbs excess water. • Absorbs vitamin K made by the bacteria in your intestines! • (This is a helpful relationship between you an the bacteria. Bacteria gets food and a home; you get vitamin K) Large Intestine
