  2. Spinal Care • What we did • We chose to do an educational poster for the unit we are working on, orthopedics • We chose a poster so that it would be easy for the staff to see and refer to if needed. • We decided to put the poster in a common area that would be helpful for the staff.

  3. Spinal Care • Our poster

  4. Spinal Care • Who it was for: • This poster was for the staff on the unit as there will be an increase in spinal patients in the next couple of months and we found the staff was unsure of how to handle this, as they are not quite used to these patients yet.

  5. Spinal Care • Our motivation • We wanted to make an easy reference guide for them on how to perform spinal assessments and what to look for

  6. Spinal Care • How it made a difference • We hope it will make a difference as once the unit starts getting more spinals the staff will not feel overwhelmed, and will be more comfortable with spinal patients

  7. Spinal Care • Our recommendations • For future students and follow up we would recommend that they add on to our project, and could make reference sheets and handouts for the staff • Another idea would be to make a binder of resources on spinal procedures and protocols for the staff • For future students it would be beneficial to present to students instead of staff, as staff were busy and presenting was too casual and presenting to students would be more formal.
