  3. The College Word of the day is Extrapolate- extend the application of (a method or conclusion, especially one based on statistics) to an unknown situation by assuming that existing trends will continue or similar methods will be applicable.

  5. PROM TICKETS ARE ON SALE AT STEP IN ROOM C100 Tickets ARE $75 each. Prom Guest Forms are available in the main office.

  6. WATKINS MILL ART SHOW 2019 Enjoy a showcase of art, food, and music as we celebrate Watkins Mill High School’s artistic achievements for this past academic year. Today is the day!

  7. Ramadan Fact of the day: During Ramadan in Muslim majority countries, work days are shortened to allow additional prayer times. During STEP THIS WEEK: Have you ever wondered how Muslim women put on their head scarf. The traditional headscarf is called 'hijab'. Did you know men also cover their heads with a Kufi? MSAstudents will host an "hijab" and "Kufi" trying session this week during STEP. Come try one on during STEP today! This is open to staff and students. On Monday, Ms. Goddard and Ms. Lulu came to try on hijabs! You two looked great! We hope to see you there! And please remember: NO FOOD OR DRINKS PERMITTED IN B210

  8. Turtle Time at the Mill It's Turtle Time again! Come earn SSL hours by helping with a turtle conservation project in the woods behind our school. We will be doing this on three Saturdays this spring: April 13, May 4, and May 18. Times are from 10 am - noon. Wear long pants and good shoes for walking off-trail in the woods. Also bring a full water bottle. See Mrs. Doerrler in C208 or Mr. Miller in C205 for more information.

  9. KEY CLUB Members are making “Care cards” for senior citizens at Montgomery Village Healthcare center during STEP in B210 Thursday! It’s Academic- Hot chocolate sales are still going on in B210.

  10. Attention All Students, Are you hungry when you get to school? Would you like something to eat before you begin your school day? If you said yes, then please make your way to the WMHS cafeteria in the morning between 7:15 and 7:40 to get a free breakfast. Statistics show that eating a nutritious breakfast increases student achievement. Beginning now you will have several choices, each day, for your breakfast meal, including a delicious smoothie.

  11. All choices are available either in the cafeteria or at the concession stand in the auditorium lobby. This free meal is available to you every morning. Please take advantage of it… See you at Breakfast!!

  12. "For all next year's Juniors and Seniors, there are only two days left to receive a $200 discount for the 2020 Spring Break Trip to Portugal. Sign up now to save, you don't have to pay for the whole tour now, but you do have to sign up in the next two days to get the discount! See Mr. Sneddon in the Social Studies Office if you need help registering."

  13. Have a paper you need to write? College Essay?  Scholarship Essay? IB essay? Need to outline? Revise? Edit? The Writing Lab is now open in the media center every day during STEP.  Mrs. Cosker and Mrs. Antonettiare there every day to assist any student who needs help crafting/improving their written work.  We're located at the second round table, just behind the computer rows. 

  14.  We have chrome books and are willing to give your written work immediate feedback.   So come to the Media Center and visit the Writing Lab. Bring your work, and we'll help you get your writing to the next level. 

  15. STAFF & STUDENT PARKING PERMIT, 2nd SEMESTER 2018 Student parking permits for 2nd semester are on sale now for $37.50. The permit applications are available in the Financial Office.  Students must complete an application that has been signed by a parent.  Only permitted cars are allowed on our campus.

  16. Parking on the school campus is a privilege. Student parking permits are sold each semester in order to provide supervised student parking for all student drivers and safety on the school campus.  All parking permits must be displayed appropriately from the rear view mirror. The school security staff will ticket cars without permits.  Cars receiving 3 warning tickets will be towed.  Parking permits may be revoked for violations such as speeding Or unsafe behaviors involving the vehicle, or other infractions of school rules.  

  17. Temporary or daily permits will be available for $1.00 per day from the Financial Office. These permits will be offered for students who may have occasional driving needs. Students with daily permits will have a special permit and must sign in each day.

  18. NEW YOUTUBE POLICY Please make sure to return the new YouTube policy form to the main office.  Effective Monday, November 5, 2018, high school students will be required to have affirmative consent from a parent/guardian to sign in to and use YouTube.

  19. Students without Parent/guardian consent and students who do not return the permission slip will not be able to sign in to YouTube.  You can find the permission slip in the main office.

  20. Are you interested in learning American Sign Language(ASL)? The first ASL club meeting was held in Room D101 during STEP. Come join in on the fun and learn about the wonders of this beautiful language!

  21. The WMHS Academic Team is selling hot chocolate (with or without marshmallows) every morning in B210 for $2.00.  All proceeds go towards paying for Academic apparel for national quiz bowl competitions and to pay for attending competitions.

  23. If you are interested in joining the ELITE Men of Watkins Mill High School, and making yourselves better and your school better, come to Room A208 during STEP on Today. .

  24. You need to DEBATE! The Debate club meets in room B204 either during step or at 2:45. You must attend one of these meetings to be on the debate club. All those signed up or interested in signing up are welcome. . .

  47. Spring Soccer Interest Meeting There was a mandatory meeting for boys soccer in Room B100 on ~ Tuesday April 30th.“ If you have any questions please coach Josh Halper, WMHS Varsity Boys Soccer

  48. Track Team Congratulations! Congrats to our Track Team yesterday during the Montgomery County Championship Meet. Our boys, out of 24 teams, medaled and finished 3rd. As always, our Wolverines compete through the finish line. With that being said, big recognition goes to the boys 4x100 Relay Team, BaebaaSayeh, AmadouSilmana, Anthony Rush and David Okoli for finishing 2nd. Amadou also finished 1st in the 110M hurdles and 2nd in the 300M hurdles
