  3. What is being said is very important, so you need to pay attention! Cf. Mark 4:23-25 Many don’t listen or don’t listen to understand. What does this mean?

  4. 1. Dull of hearing • Hebrews 5:11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. • Matthew 13:13-15 (Isaiah 6:9-10) 3 types of listeners

Those who hear with a “noble and good heart.” • Luke 8:15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. • Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 3 types of listeners

  7. Essential to being blessed. • Matthew 13:16-17 (cf. 1 Peter 1:10-12) • Essential to saving faith. • Romans 1:16-17; 10:14, 17; John 20:30-31 • Essential to bearing fruit. • Luke 8:15, Colossians 1:6 The importance of good listening

  8. Essential to preventing apostasy. • Hebrews 2:1-3 • Essential to avoiding condemnation. • John 12:44-48 The importance of good listening

  9. Make listening an act of worship. Acts 20:7 Listen to the whole sermon. Acts 20:7-9 Follow along in your bible. 1 Corinthians 4:6 Listen with faith. Romans 3:4 Listen with the intent to DO. Ezekiel 33:30-32, James 1:21-25 Be a better listener

  10. Luke 9:35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” Luke 6:46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?” Listen to god today!

  11. Believe – John 8:24 Repent – Luke 13:3 Confess – Matthew 10:32-33 Be baptized – Mark 16:16 Be faithful – Revelation 2:10 Listen to god today!
