  9. REVISE!  • Switch your paper with someone near you to revise. • Write your name at the top of their paper. • Underline their hook. Next to their hook, write whether you would want to keep reading their essay or not based on the hook. • Do they introduce their topic and BRIEFLY explain why their topic is even an issue? If not, tell them to. • Underline their thesis. Is it arguable? • Double underline their claims. Are their claims arguable? Do they have at least two claims?

  10. “Section” 2 • Now look at your partner’s next section (either the next paragraph or the next “bracketed” section). • Only look at the first sentence of their paragraph. What will their whole “section” be about? Write it next to their first sentence. (If you can’t tell what the paragraph will be about, tell them to clarify). • Does their text evidence relate to their topic sentence? (If not, tell them to change it) • Do they explain their evidence? Is it clear and understandable? (If not, tell them to clarify) • Look at their last sentence of the section. Does it sum up what their whole paragraph was about? • Repeat these steps for their next 1-2 sections.

  11. Checklist: • Use the checklist to guide your self-revision process.

  12. Get some rest like this guy  HW: • Read Chapters 13-14, 16-17, 19. • Write a one page reflection where you explain your thoughts and feelings on the book. (What was thought-provoking? What was surprising?) • Final Drafts will be due TUESDAY after break. • HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! 
