  2. Do-Now: Have out vocab homework and “American Dream Leads to Servitude” article. Then check your answers to the vocab: • propriety (N)– conforming to acceptable standards of behavior • beneficence (N)- the state of being kind or charitable • exigency (N)– an urgent need • disarray(N)– a state of disorganization or untidiness • jocular (adj)– humorous, playful • mordant (adj)– having a sharp or biting quality (in personality) • ludicrous (adj)- so foolish or unreasonable that it is amusing • exalt (v)– to think or speak of someone highly • marginalize (v)– to treat someone/groups as insignificant or unimportant • extol (v)– to praise enthusiastically
