  5. Wasco shelters • Earthen houses are good for people who want permanent homes and live in a non-forested area. • Longhouses are Native American homes and they are built like wigwams . With pole frames and elm bark covering, longhouses are longer than wigwams . 200 ft. long – 20 ft. wide – and 20 ft. high. • Teepees are tent-like American Indian houses – it’s a cone shaped wooden frame with a covering of buffalo hide. • Grass houses resemble large wigwams but are made of different materials . They have a wood frame bent into a beehive shape .
