  1. WHY SHOULD BUSINESSES SWITCH TO VOIP PHONE SYSTEMS? In our modern business climate, every firm wants a better, faster and cost-effective way to get things done. Coincidentally, these are the three features that are synonymous with a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) over a traditional phone line. To aptly put, with a VOIP system, you are basically making phone calls over the internet in contrast to a cell network. Furthermore, the benefits of using VOIP phone systems are just too glaring to ignore. To begin with, we can compare the price of both the VOIP service and the traditional phone service. Subsequently, the VOIP service has proven to be more cost-effective both during installation and maintenance. For a VOIP system, the installation usually requires way much less hardware, although it still requires that it be carried out by an expert. On the other hand, a typical phone system would require that you pay for line rentals, hardware, and a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) system – this is responsible for its core functionality like call routing, directing and more. Furthermore, the cost of PBX could run into several thousand more than a VOIP installation, in addition to the latter being less expensive to set up and run. Regardless of the initial installation cost, on VOIP services, there is a fixed charge for all calls. Whereas on a traditional phone system, you have different charges which could range from long distance charge, monthly line charge, minimum call charge, etc. Another edge VOIP services have over the traditional phone system is its wide array of features. Take for instance, if you are restrained financially and have no secretary, on a VOIP service you could set up an auto attendant feature that can help you route calls to the appropriate departments, a VOIP system takes the typical voicemail service one step further by also offering voicemail files in addition to its transcriptions that can be emailed to you.

  2. A growing trend that has emerged even among top companies is the ability to work from a remote location. A VOIP system allows workers who are in different geographical location work as though they were physically together. Likewise, there are seamless options to transfer calls via extensions to a worker who is thousands of miles away from you. This turn of events has really changed the business climate, making it more flexible in addition to increasing efficiency – something the old phone system is having a hard time catching up with. An important feature of any new technology is its ability to integrate seamlessly with other existing technologies. Similarly, VOIP phone systems are capable of integrating with your CRM such that anytime you receive a call, a pop-up emerges on your computer which will come up with details of the caller which can include the company they are calling from, the last business transaction between both companies, any outstanding debts and so on. Thus, envision the possibilities that abound with information like this at your front desk. If you’ve been dithering on getting a VOIP system, there has been no better time than now to get one!
