  1. Unlicensed Mobile Access Presented by: Alexei, Ashley, Ryan, Tommy

  2. U.M.A • Developed by UMA Consortium • Participants include: Cingular, Motorola, Nokia, and T-Mobile • Definition: allows the transfer and switching of cell phone receptions to unlicensed wireless networks, local area networks, and a public switched network to enable the most optimum reception available

  3. UMA Process • A subscriber makes a call with a UMA enabled phone • Once the call is in place, the signal is sent and must be approved by the unlicensed access network • Upon approval, the user’s mobile phone is shifted seemlessly to the best available networks at any given time. • Prevents any existence of roaming.

  4. Advantages of UMA • Co-exists with systems such as, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth • Doesn’t require modems, routers, and access points • Eliminates poor reception in buildings

  5. Conclusion • Questions and Comments Thank you for time and patience!
