Interview • I interviewed my dad. • You would want your modem located within cable length of the incoming broadband, and you would want your wireless router located centrally among the users • Devices you would want connected would be your computers and printer • It costs about 39.95 a month. • The basic software you would need is windows • Password are usually used(web keys)

My Wireless Network Needs • For my fictitious network I would need a modem, a wireless router, network cable to connect to modem, wireless printers, our computers of course, and for layout of the appt. we would want our modem located at the broadband entry, and a cable ran to the router which we would want to be centrally located based on the user locations, and our printers would ideally be located at the users.

Common Network Terminology • 5 terms used in home networks: • Wireless access point (WAP)- serves as a central connection point for wireless computers • Local area network (LAN)-network where computer are close together usually same building. • Wireless network- nodes have tiny radio transmitters so they can send date in the air rather than through cables • Bandwidth- the quantity of data that can be transmitted through a communication medium in a given amount of time. • Personal area network (PAC)- network that links a variety of personal electronic devices so they can communicate with each other

  8. Summery of Learning • I learned that we can connect in many different ways. With wireless connection we can use many different devices through a router and connect all the devices together. We can have 4 computers sharing off of the same account and all using the same printer.
